I began my educational career in 2008 at Fruitvale ISD as a long-term sub teaching
multiple high school math courses. In 2009, I was hired to teach 6 th grade math in
Mabank ISD. During my time as a classroom teacher in Mabank, I won Teacher of the
Year. In 2013 I moved to Big Spring, Texas and began my administration career as an
elementary assistant principal in Big Spring ISD. While in Big Spring, I also served as
the director of curriculum and instruction and elementary principal. In 2016, we moved
to Omaha, Texas where I worked for Pewitt CISD as the junior high principal. In 2019, I
took a position as the high school principal for Woodsboro ISD. In the spring of 2020, I
finally made it to Bushland! I served as the assistant superintendent of Bushland ISD for
four plus years. I am proud to say I have been an administrator at all levels of a school
district, including the central office level, and I am very excited to be serving as the
acting superintendent of Bushland ISD.
It is an honor to be the acting superintendent of Bushland ISD. During my career in
education, I have won Teacher of the Year, served as a campus principal at all levels K-
12, served as director of curriculum and instruction, and I helped lead an elementary
campus from a multi-year TEA “Improvement Required” rating to a top campus in our
district in one school year. I have written and published “Elementary Teachers’
Perceptions About Principals’ Influence on Classroom Instruction”. My wife, Susan has
been in education for 25 plus years and is currently a dyslexia therapist for a
neighboring school district. I am excited and eager to bring my knowledge and skills as
an educational leader to Bushland ISD and to work with the students, staff, and
community of Bushland.
