Meet Mr. Wood Mr. Wood with granddaughter Taylor

Welcome to Bushland ISD…the District of Choice, where we are “Raising the Bar” in all that we do.

I like to think of myself as a native to the panhandle, but I was actually born in Oklahoma then moved to California, New Mexico, Calgary (Canada), and finally to Texas, where I graduated from Quanah High School in 1980. I received a Bachelor’s degree in Geology with a teaching certificate in Composite Science from West Texas State University (which is no surprise- both parents were educators, my grandfather was an educator and administrator, both sisters received teaching certifications, and my twin brother is a teacher/coach in Muleshoe).  I have been happily married to Tonda for the past 30 years where I can honestly say I got the better end of that deal. My two daughters, Lindsey and Kasey, are both teachers in Canyon and Shallowater respectfully, and my son, Lane, is a science teacher and coach at Shallowater. I have two grandchildren, Taylor - age 6, and Kelby - 9 months.

I started my teaching career at Highland Park (Amarillo), where I taught science, math and coached three sports. I moved into administration as an assistant principal then moved to Nazareth where I served as HS Principal. I relocated to Childress as the HS principal, and then on to Muleshoe, where I served the district as the Assistant Superintendent for eight years. This is my 30th year in education and 6th as the superintendent for Bushland ISD....the BEST district in the great state of Texas.
